Southern Maine Children's Academy
Inclusive Early Childhood Education

About Us

OUR PROGRAM

The preschool program at SMCA consists of four classrooms, wherein children are placed according to their level of development.  Every classroom offers a variety of structured and unstructured activities that allow each child to learn and develop in a supportive and caring environment.  Each day includes play and learn time, literacy activities, circle time and centers-based learning activities.

Embedded throughout our daily activities are numerous opportunities for each child to develop the skills to be successful in kindergarten including pre-academics, self-help and safety skills, social-emotional development and motor development. In addition to addressing the Maine Early Learning Guidelines, we draw from the Handwriting without Tears, Zones of Regulation and Social Thinking curricula to optimize your child’s experience. Every child receives a portfolio documenting their experience at the conclusion of the school year.

SMCA contracts with Child Development Services to provide Specially Designed Instruction in the natural classroom setting.  We also offer Speech and Language therapy.  Occupational and Physical therapies area available on a contracted basis.  Please contact us for more information.
